Weight Watchers Core

Last week I "fully" returned to the Weight Watchers program. I thought I did very well, counting my points, eating properly - I never went over my points for the week. However, I lost 0.4 lbs. Ew. What the hell was that?! It angered me so much that I finally took the leap and decided to try Weight Watchers Core. Core means you do not count points for what you eat. You eat only what is on their Core list of foods. It's an extensive list of fruits, veggies and meats, along with some fat-free milk products, certain oils, and a maximum of one whole grain wheat product per day. I thought that this was going to be very difficult, not being able to eat anything I wanted. Um... I was WRONG!

Okay, so we went grocery shopping and I stocked up on a whole bunch of Core foods, most of which belonged to some Core recipes I had found. Yes, it was very expensive buying all that healthy food (let's just say I could eat McDonald's 3 times a day for 7 days and it would cost me about 1/3 of the price of the good-for-you food). I set out Monday morning on a mission to lose weight! Monday for lunch I made myself a delicious tuna steak (my first one ever) with some egg beaters scrambled eggs and fat-free cheese. Then for dinner I had southwest flavored pork loin with a corn and bean salad (so filling). I realized that between meals I was not at all hungry! Usually I want to snack all the time, which I think is because on flex, I limit myself to about 10 points per meal (some Weight Watchers frozen dinners are 7 points, and they don't leave you feeling satisfied). Then, Tuesday, all I had was 1/2 cup of the bean and corn salad and a cup of pink grapefruit. Guess what? I got full! What?! On vegetables and fruit?! Yay! For dinner I made scallops and baked sweet potatoes. Again, yum! Wednesday for lunch I made scrambled eggs (egg beaters) with corn and bean salad on top and a dollop of fat-free sour cream with a ham steak! A ham steak - oh boy! Finally, dinner was Spanish rice (1 cup of brown rice between 2 people) with chicken, shrimp AND scallops! It was amazing - however, it did take absolutely FOREVER to make! In the last few days I have eaten more interesting meals than I ever did on the Flex plan!

Oh, and the best part? In three days I'm already down just over 3 lbs! HA!

It took me a year to finally listen to everyone at Weight Watchers that I should try Core, but I did, and I want to stay on it for awhile. We are going out for an anniversary dinner and you would think, uh oh, there goes the weight loss, but, I can go to a steak house, have a big 'ol steak, a salad, steamed veggies and a shrimp cocktail appetizer and still be on Core. This rocks!

Tip of the day: Remember kids, stay away from white sugar!!
